Football Picked to Take Second in MWC North Division

CHICAGO – The Midwest Conference football preseason coaches' poll was released on Wednesday and the University of Chicago was picked to finish second in the MWC North Division.

The 12-team league is split into North and South Divisions. In the North, St. Norbert College was the leading vote getter (64 points, nine first-place votes) with the Maroons ranked second (56 points, two first-place votes). Monmouth College is the top vote getter in the South (66 points, 11 first-place votes).

UChicago enters its second season in the MWC after posting a 6-4 overall mark in 2017, including a 6-2 mark against league foes. The Maroons placed second in the North and concluded the season with a 33-13 victory at Lake Forest College during the crossover MWC Championship Week.

At the end of each season, the top finishers in the North and South Divisions play each other for the MWC's automatic bid into the NCAA postseason. Monmouth comes in as the defending champion.

UChicago kicks off the 2018 campaign with a September 1 road contest at Washington University – St. Louis.
