CHICAGO – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) preseason national poll was released on Tuesday, with University of Chicago women's soccer ranking second and men's soccer ranking third.
The Maroon women are coming off their most accomplished season in program history. They posted a 22-2 overall record in 2017 and reached the NCAA championship match. UChicago set a plethora of new school records for victories, shutouts, goals against average, goals, assists and points. The squad included three All-Americans and five All-Region honorees.
On the men's side, UChicago reached the 2017 NCAA semifinals for the second time ever and posted a 19-2-2 mark. The Maroons' historic season featured new school marks for most victories, goals, assists and points. Four Maroons achieved All-American status, in addition to four All-Region selections.
Both teams kickoff the 2018 season with matches on August 31. The women host Whitman College while the men head down to Texas to take on Southwestern University.
