CHICAGO The University of Chicago achieved its highest seasonal ranking in the latest 2019-20 Division III Learfield Directors' Cup standings. 

Thursday's release featured the Maroons in third place overall with 322.5 points through the fall season. The points are awarded based upon team postseason performances at the respecftive NCAA Championships. NCAA Division III membership is composed of 450 schools.

Five fall sport teams earned points according to their postseason performances, including women's cross country (NCAA 4th place), men's cross country (NCAA 12th place), volleyball (NCAA 3rd Round), women's soccer (NCAA 3rd Round) and men's soccer (NCAA 2nd Round).

UChicago leads a contingent of four University Athletic Association (UAA) teams ranked in the Directors' Cup top 15. Washington University - St. Louis (6th place), Emory University (12th place) and Carnegie Mellon University (15th place) were also represented highly in the standings.

Johns Hopkins University leads all institutions with 481 points. 

The Learfield Directors' Cup is a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. The points system is based on each institution's postseason finish in up to 18 sports (nine women's and nine men's).
