Five Maroons Earn Selection to NABC Honors Court, Team Receives Academic Excellence Award

2018-19 NABC Honors Court

CHICAGO – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) recognized the University of Chicago men's basketball team with team and individual academic honors over the past week.

On Wednesday, five Maroons were named to the 2018-19 NABC Honors Court. The recipients included Jordan Baum, Mattia Colangelo, Justin Jackson, Max Jacobs and Cole Schmitz.

Honors Court members must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year.
  • Must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
  • Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.

Additionally, UChicago received a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award on July 11. Now in its sixth year, the award is given to teams who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the 2018-19 season.
