UChicago Women’s Soccer Rolls Through MSOE 6-0 in Season Opener

MILWAUKEE – The University of Chicago women's soccer team came out firing on all cylinders and blasted past Milwaukee School of Engineering 6-0 in Saturday afternoon's season opener.

The Maroons improved to 1-0 while the Raiders fell to 0-1-1.

It took a mere five minutes for UChicago to register its first goal of the season, courtesy of junior Maddie DeVoe. Just two minutes later, senior Adrianna Vera doubled the advantage with a tally from junior Katie Jasminski's pass.

The visitors took the 2-0 lead into halftime. A three-goal outburst between the 56th and 61st minutes put the game away. Jasminski scored twice in-a-row, with one assist coming from senior Hanna Watkins. Vera put another into the back of the net, collecting a rebound off a breakaway chance near the left post. Sophomore Sara Salvino assisted on the play with the initial shot that was saved point blank.

Sophomore Anna Kenig-Ziesler concluded the onslaught in the 76th minute by finishing a feed by freshman Skye Davis.

UChicago dominated the action with a 29-3 lead in shots, including 16-0 in shots on goal. Corner kicks went 7-1 to the visitors.

Junior Miranda Malone earned the win in goal. She played the opening 62 minutes before being relieved by sophomore Emma Smith.
